HEALTH FOOD

Health food is a general term applied to all kinds of foods that are considered more healthful than the types of foods widely sold in supermarkets. For example, whole grains, dried beans, and corn oil are healt foods. A narrower classification of health food is natural food. This term is used to distinguish between types of the same food. Fresh fruit is natural food, but canned fruit, with sugars and other additictives, is not. The most precise term of all and the narrowest classification within health food is organic food, used to describe food that has been grown on a particular kind of farm. Fruits and vegetables that are grown in gardens treated only with organic fertilizers are organic foods. They are neither sprayed with poisonous insecticides nor refined after harvest.
In choosing the type of food you eat, you have basically two choices, inorganig or processed foods, and organicor unprocessed foods. A wise decision should include consideration af allegation that processed foods containing chemicals are proven to be toxic. It also states that the vitamin content is greatly reduced in proccessed foods.

WATERWAY

Some of the world’s finest roads make use of bodies of water. They are called canals. Canals are man made waterway. They are usually straight and narrow. But they are filled with water. They connect rivers and lakes, oceans anh lakes, rivers, and oceans and oceans so that boats and ship can go from one to the other.
Most canals are used for transportation. Barges, boats, and ships carry good over canals. Some are used to irrigate land or to carry sewage from large cities. Canals also reduce the cost of shipping goods and offer travel short cuts.
Canals even go over hills and mountains. But you know that water can’t flow up a hill, so how can thewater and boats in a canal go up a hill?
Something called a lock is used. It is a giant tank. The tank is big enough to hold a long boat. The boat floats into the tank, and the door behind it are closed to lock the boat in there. Then more wateris let into the tank. When the tank is full of water, the tank door in front of the boat is opened and the boat floats out. The boat floats higher and higher as the water rises. It floats either our into a higher part of the canal or into another tank or lock, which will lift it still higher.
To go down the hill on the other side, the boat enters a lock that is full of water . as the water is let out of the lock, the boat will float lower and lower. So locks make it possible for boats or ships to move from one water level to another.

Good School Environment

To improve comfort and cleanliness at our school, a number of dust bins should be increased. When we look at classrooms, school corridors and school yard, there are paper , mineral water cups, straws, and napkins here and there. The condition of uncleanliness and discomfort really hinders cups or glasses. They can be filled out with water coming from the rain. This can be placed for dengue mosquitoes to spread out. Besides, these rubbish can deteriorate the scene. Well painted wall and green school yard do not mean anything if litters are scattered everywhere.
Anyway! Notice that most of the students in our school have responsibilities for their school environment. They put their litters on the proper places. But some are not diligent enough to find the dust bins. The numbers of dust bins in our schoosl are not enough. More dust bins should be put beside each of steps, outside of the classroom, and some more along the corridor. Probably one dust bin should be in every ten meters. So when students want to throw away their litters, they can find the dust bins easily.
When school is equipped with sufficient dust bins, wee do not have problems of filth and discomfort any more. Our school will be very clean and become a nice place to study.

The Hospital

If you look at the front of a large, modern hospital, you may notice that there are two separate entrance. One is for patience in need of immediate treatments, is the emergency entrance. Here ambulances are seen pulling up at any hour of day or night. The other is the hospital main entrance.
In the ground floor inside the main entrance there are reception area, waiting room, and also office. On the floor above and below are the numerous floors will be a maternity section for mothers and their babies. Their rooms are usually kept separate from the rest of hospital, so that the babies do not cacth other people’s illeness.
The rooms from other patients are usually on the higher floors. There are small rooms for just one patient, slightly large rooms for two , three or four patients, and larger called wards, in which as many as 40 or 50 patients may lie in rows of beds. On other floors are the operating room, called operating theatres, and special departements such as the radiography department, where x-rays are taken and developed.
In the laboratories, special tests are carried out on body tissues fluids to find out patient’s disease. The pharmacy supplies the drugs ti treat patients. Near the operating theatres is the blood bank to store blood for transfusions. Here too are the sterilizing theatres and the wards which are cleaned and made free from germs.

Lets make the City and Fresh

A clean and fresh city will surely make the inhabitans healthy. Every morning especially in dry season, all roads must be watered with clean water and swept by the worker of regional government under the mayor’s instruction.
To protect people from heavy pollution caused by cars, trucks and motorcycles, enough trees must be planted along the roads. Every building or house in the city must be surrounded by short”and small trees which bear colorful flowers.
Bad and improper habits which cause disadvantages, such as smoking and rubbish anywhere should be stopped at once.
The city mayor will have to think over the way to educate people, so they realize how important cleanliness and healt are. More public lavatories are badly needed.
It will be wise if the city mayor decides a certain amount of fine to be paid by those who break the government regulation on cleanliness matter, for example, a man who urinates not at a lavatory, smokes not at a smoking room ar throws rubbish at the roads should be fined. Besides dirtying the environment wiyh cigarettes’ butts, smoking will also cause pollution and bag lung diseases to other people .
So, bad habits and impolite attitude should be immediately stopped, otherwise the city will be dirty, unhealthy, badly polluted and will never attract foreign and domestic tourists as well.

Growing Number of High School Student Smoking

A survey has found about 13 percent of first time smokers in the country are junior high school student. It also revealed 89 percent of young female employees werw smokers.
The survey was conducted in five major cities across the country, including Surakarta in Central Java. Muhammad Syahril Mansyur, the Surakarta Health Agency’s respiratory illness division, said that the finding of the survey showed an alarming growth rate of Indonesian smoker. “This situation is a cause for concern,” he said. “It appears the country’s younger generation is uneducated about the health risks of smoking.”
The Indonesian anti-tobacco campaign has reportedly been deemed as ineffective as the goverment refuses to sign the international convention on tobacco control. It said that cigarette producers contributed to a large amount to state revenue and gave jobs to thousands of workers.
